Why BodyWorks is Different – The ART® Difference

Because of our unique experiences as athletes, Dr. Redman and I understand the importance of performing at optimal levels. Whether there is a basketball tournament coming up, a marathon that needs to be completed, or being active with your children on a daily basis, it is important to be able to rise to these challenges. Muscle strains and sprains, joint aches, and illness can keep us from accomplishing our goals. This is why in addition to the traditional chiropractic adjustment, both Dr. Redman and I also utilize soft tissue techniques to help the body heal from injury. These techniques can decrease recovery time, decrease pain, and increase range of motion and functionality.

We are also certified Active Release Techniques® providers. Active Release Techniques, or ART, is a system that addresses problems with the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves that occur as a result of injury or repetitive stress. Utilizing ART in conjunction with traditional chiropractic adjustments can truly resolve a lot of acute and chronic conditions, as well as help prevent injury later on. ART is also not just limited to the spine, unlike traditional chiropractic – we see many patients with a variety of issues ranging from hamstring strains, knee pain, post-surgical repair or joint replacement, and shoulder pain on a daily basis.

Dr. Redman and I have always found the chiropractic adjustment to be very useful and helpful, but when it comes to clinical practice and some of our own injuries, we have found ART to be the ingredient missing with traditional chiropractic care.  With soft tissue injuries, it is important to work directly on the the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that are injured or affected by an injury.  My own shoulder injury in my martial arts training taught me how important this was – a chiropractic adjustment to my shoulder did not alleviate my shoulder pain.  Directly working on the muscles and tissues affected by my injury were the only thing that alleviated my shoulder pain.  In our office, we regularly see patients that make significant improvements with a combination of traditional chiropractic care and soft tissue work.

Dr. Redman and I believe that movement and mobility are important keys to maintaining health, recovering from injury, and preventing injury.  During the course of your care at BodyWorks, we always give recommended stretching, mobility, and strengthening exercises and tips to take home with you.

If we did ALL the things
we are CAPABLE of doing,
we would literally astound ourselves.
